BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Gulf South Conference has announced its Women’s Indoor Track & Field weekly award for the week of Dec. 1-7, 2025.
TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Aria Hawkins, Sr., Lee
- Competed in the 3000m race at the BU Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston.
- Finished ninth in a Division I-heavy field with a time of 9:15.31.
- The performance was a NCAA provisional mark and ranked Hawkins second in Division II.

FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Samara Brinks, So., Lee
- Claimed third in the weight throw at the Commodore Winter Challenge.
- Threw for a personal-best 17.05m (55’ 11.25”).
- Brinks earned her first career GSC weekly award.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Heckla Magnusdottir, UAH
- Recorded three personal bests while making her collegiate debut at the Birmingham Indoor Icebreaker.
- Placed seventh in the shot put with a throw of 12.64m (41’ 5.75”).
- Finished eighth in the long jump with a distance of 5.68m (18’ 7.75”).
- Also competed in the 60m hurdles posting a time of 9.17 seconds in qualifying.
