GSC Women's Basketball 2025-26 Preseason Poll, Team Unveiled

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Union (Tenn.) was dubbed the favorite to win the 2025-26 Gulf South Conference women’s basketball title, as selected by the league’s head coaches. The conference also unveiled preseason all-conference selections and the Newcomers To Watch list.

After celebrating the GSC regular season and tournament titles last season, the Lady Bulldogs received 10 first-place votes and 119 points, topping the preseason predictions for the sixth time in seven seasons. 

Following Union and among the top eight was Lee, UAH, West Florida, Valdosta State, Delta State, Mississippi College, and Montevallo. 

Preseason all-conference selections were also announced, as determined by the head coaches. UAH senior guard and reigning GSC Player of the Year Lili Wilken headlined the selections. She was joined by teammate Millie Brown, Union’s Olivia Lee, Valdosta State’s Erin Whalen, and West Alabama’s Kendall Lacoste.

In addition, the 2025-26 GSC Women’s Basketball Newcomers to Watch was also unveiled. This year’s list featured 32 names and represented all 12 teams. Honorees were submitted their head coaches. Click here for to see the full list.

The 2025-26 season tips off on Friday, Nov. 7, with all 12 programs opening conference play on December 4. Teams will play a double-round robin conference schedule that will comprise of 20 games over 12 weeks. 

The league will take winter break December 22-28. The 2026 GSC Women’s Basketball Championship is scheduled for March 2-8. Click here to see the full schedule.
