Matchups, Times Set for 2024 GSC Soccer Tournaments

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Gulf South Conference officially announced matchups and start times for its 2024 GSC Soccer Championships.  

The two eight-team tournaments will begin Saturday, Nov. 9 for the men and Sunday, Nov. 10 for the women. The top four seeded teams for each tournament will host the quarterfinals. The remaining teams will then head to Huntsville, Ala., for the semifinal and championship round games. 

TOURNAMENT CENTRAL 

West Florida, the defending tournament champion, enter the men’s tournament as the No. 1-seed after claiming its 11th regular-season title since 2000. The Argonauts will make their conference-leading 25th tournament appearance and host eighth-seeded Lee. The Flames qualified for the GSC postseason for the eighth time. Kickoff is set for 7 pm CT. 

Christian Brothers heads in the postseason as the No. 2-seed and riding a 10-game unbeaten streak, highlighted by five-straight wins. The Bucs will host No. 7 Delta State at 7 pm CT.  

Third-seeded Auburn Montgomery makes its fifth consecutive trip to the GSC Championship and will do so with some momentum, having won four of its final five games. The Warhawks will host No. 6-seed Trevecca Nazarene at 7 pm CT. The Trojans earned a spot in the postseason their first season as a member of the GSC. 

Separated by just two points in the regular season standings, No. 4-seed Mississippi College will host No. 5-seed Spring Hill at 1 pm CT. This will be the Choctaws seventh tournament appearance all-time, while the Badgers make their fifth trip. 

The third consecutive season, West Florida is the No. 1-seed in the women’s tournament, after celebrating its eighth GSC regular season title since 2010. The Argos will host tournament debutant and eighth-seeded Spring Hill at 1 pm CT.  

Montevallo enter as the No. 2-seed and will make its 11th tournament appearance when it hosts No. 7-seed Mississippi College. The Lady Choctaws are making their eighth postseason trip and have advanced to the semifinals three times since 2019. Kickoff is set for 4 pm CT. 

Union returns to the GSC Women’s Soccer Championship for first time since 2016 and third time in program history. The Lady Bulldogs come in as the No. 3-seed will host No. 6-seed Delta State, who makes its first tournament appearance since 2021. Kickoff is slated for 1 pm CT. 

Lee, the defending tournament champion from a season ago, head into this year’s event as the No. 4-seed. Success is no stranger to the Lady Flames come tournament time, as they have reached the title game five times since 2017. They will open against No. 5-seed Valdosta State who returns to the GSC Championship after missing out in 2023. Kickoff is set for 1 pm ET.
