Kohoutkova, a junior from the Czech Republic, earned her first Champion Scholar-Athlete Award with a 4.0 grade point average while majoring in interdisciplinary studies. As a result, she became the second women from Valdosta State to earn the award, following 2021 recipient, Birte Langenstein, who also competed in women's tennis.

Mack, a junior from Germany, also earned his first Champion Scholar-Athlete Award, while majoring in international business and posting a perfect 4.0 GPA. The 2023 GSC Men's Tennis Player of the Year, became the school's first men's tennis student-athlete to be recognized and joined golfer Wesley Hanson as the only other recipient of the award.

This is the fourth year that the Gulf South Conference has presented the Champion Scholar-Athlete Award. The award is given out at the final site of each GSC Championship event and awarded to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA among teams participating. Each student-athlete GPA is based on the most recently completed term, and the individual must have a minimum of 48 credit hours to be eligible for the award. Student-athletes are only eligible to win the award once per academic year.
