BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Associated Press (AP) announced its 2023 NCAA Division II Football All-American Team, among which the Gulf South Conference was represented by four student-athletes.

Earning first team accolades, was West Florida defensive lineman John McMullen. Landing second team laurels was UWF wide receiver John Jiles, Valdosta State offensive lineman Devin Hannan and Delta State defensive back Malik Jones.
McMullen finished the season with 51 total tackles, including 34 solo stops. He also tallied 22 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, six quarterback hurries and three forced fumbles. Among national rankings, the GSC Defensive Player of the Year, was third-overall in sacks, sixth in TFL and second in Division II in TFL yards (112).
Jiles finished the season as one of the top wide receivers in D2, ranking fourth in receiving touchdowns (16) and third in receiving yards (1,255). A GSC First Team selection, Jiles recorded six games with 100 or receiving yards, including a Division II season-high 277 yards–fourth-most all-time in conference history.
Hannan was a key piece to Valdosta State's success as it went on to win a share of the GSC title. The veteran offensive lineman allowed the Blazers to be ranked ninth in Division II in offensive passing completion, first downs and fifth in passing offense.
Jones finished the season with 32 tackles, including 22 solos. The senior also tallied 1.5 tackles for loss while registering team-highs with five interceptions and six pass break-ups.
