BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Gulf South Conference announced its football weekly award winners for Week 9 of the 2023 season. West Georgia had two honorees as running back Rajaez Mosley (Offensive) and quarterback Cameran Brown (Freshman) were recognized for the second consecutive week, while Valdosta State defensive back Jacob Harris (Defensive) and punter Noah Botsford (Special Teams) also garnered weekly accolades.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Rajaez Mosley, Jr., RB, West Georgia
For the second consecutive week, Mosley was named the conference’s top weekly offensive player after rushing for a career-best 191 on 16 carries to help West Georgia to a 41-35 win over Shorter. As a result, the junior running back averaged 11.9 yards per carry while registering two touchdowns in the performance.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jacob Harris, Gr., DB, Valdosta State
Harris registered a career-high 14 tackles, including 11 solo stops, to help Valdosta State upend West Florida, 31-28, on the road. The graduate defensive back also had one pass breakup and returned a fumble recovery three yards for a touchdown.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Noah Botsford, So., P, Valdosta State
Botsford had a season-high seven punts for 324 yards in Valdosta State’s 31-28 win over West Florida. The sophomore punter averaged 46.3 yards per punt and registered a season-high long of 52 yards. He also finished with one punt inside 20, which occurred in the second quarter as a 46-yarder was spotted at the West Florida eight-yard line, which resulted in a Blazer defensive touchdown in the next play.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Cameran Brown, Fr., QB, West Georgia
For the third time this season Brown picked up the league’s weekly freshman award after accumulating 272 yards of offense in a 41-35 win at Shorter. The rookie quarterback tossed for a career-high 206 yards and was 17-for-26 passing with three touchdowns, while adding 66 yards on the ground on eight carries.
