Six #MGOLF Athletes Named GCAA PING All-American

NORMAN, Okla. – The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) has released its 2022 NCAA Division II PING All-America Teams. The Gulf South Conference saw six golfers recognized as All-Americans.

Lee’s Beck Burnette and West Georgia’s Austin Fulton were named as First Team All-Americans while West Florida’s Elias Haavisto and Lee’s Connor Pollman were selected to the Second Team. Union freshman JJ Zimmer and Lee sophomore Olvier Lewis-Perkins were recognized as two of the 23 golfers named honorable mention. 
 
Pollman’s average score of 71.26 ranked the senior 12th among the nation’s top golfers with five top-ten placements. Lewis-Perkins took three-top five finishes with an average score of 71.87 for a national ranking of 41st. The pair of Flames helped led Lee to two event wins, a third-place finish at the South Super Regional, and the program’s first national championship. 
 
Haavisto, the 2022 GSC Individual Champion, earned six top-five finishes with a low score 64 (-8) at the GSC championship. 
 
Zimmer, a member of the 2022 GCAA Div. II PING All-Freshman Team, ranked 30th in the final individual rankings with a score of 71.73 and seven top-ten placements including an individual win at the Tulsa Cup.
 
Burnette and Fulton were previously named First Team All-Americans during the 2022 NCAA Men’s Golf Championships. Find the previous release here.
 
NOTES — The Gulf South Conference has had 141 athletes honored as GCAA All-Americans since 1978 ... Burnette became the first GSC golfer to win back-to-back All-American awards since 2018-19.
