The Gulf South Conference announced its Football Players of the Week for Week 11 (Nov. 7-13) of the 2022 season.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Peewee Jarrett, Jr., QB, West Florida
Jarrett led West Florida to a 56-21 win at Mississippi College in the regular season finale on Saturday. The junior threw 246 yards on 9-of-11 attempts with four touchdowns to go along with 26 yards rushing and two TDs. He averaged 22.4 yards per pass and 5.2 yards per carry. This was Jarrett’s second weekly offensive award of the 2022 season.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Will Breland, LB, So., West Florida
Breland helped West Florida to a decisive road win on Saturday at Mississippi College. The sophomore registered a career-high 13 tackles, highlighted by nine solo stops.

SPECIAL TEAM PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Estin Thiele, So., K/P, Valdosta State
Thiele accounted for 12 points in Valdosta State’s 30-28 win versus Shorter in the season finale and moved into ninth all-time in Blazers’ history in scoring. The sophomore was 3-for-3 in PATs and 3-for-3 in field goals, converting attempts from 36, 22 and 25 yards. Thiele also recorded four punts, averaging 39.2 yards per kick, including a long of 55 and one kick downed inside the 20. He also covered kickoff duty, recording seven kicks, averaging 62.7 yards with five touchbacks. This was Thiele’s third weekly award of the 2022 season.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK: Ted Hurst, Fr., WR, Valdosta State
Hurst had a career day in the for Valdosta State in the Blazers season finale against Shorter. The freshman pulled in six catches as he finished with a touchdown and a career-high 105 yards receiving.
