Michael Anderson was named the Assistant Commissioner for Championships and Operations on July 1, 2023 after serving nine years at the GSC as Asst. Commissioner for Championships and Video.

He has been with the GSC since 1999, serving as the Assistant Sports Information Director from July 1999, until his promotion to Sports Information Director in April, 2002 and Assistant Commissioner for Media and Public Affairs in August, 2005.  Anderson changed his role to Championship and Video director in July 2014.

Anderson is the primary conference administrator for 16 of the league’s 17 Championships and he also leads the GSC’s Awards Programs and Merchandising efforts. 

Anderson has significant experience serving on NCAA committees.  He most recently served for three years on the NCAA DII Championships Committee, completing his term on August 31, 2019.  He has previous stints on the Division II Men's Basketball National Committee from 2007-09 and Regional Advisory Committees in Football, Men's Basketball and Baseball.

Anderson came to the Conference from the Patriot League, where he was the primary media relations contact for volleyball, field hockey and softball. He also assisted in administering the league's Championship events and the overall promotion of the league.

Anderson graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1997 with a B.A. degree in Education as a Sports Management major and a General Business minor.  While at UTK, he worked for nearly two years with the Lady Volunteers' Marketing Department, where his numerous duties included creating newspaper advertisements and assisting in the creation and implementation of in-game promotions and special events.
