Oliveira joined the Gulf South Conference in August 2021 as the Assistant Commissioner for Communications, serving as the conference’s primary media contact and leading its social media and communications strategies. He brings nearly a decade of diverse experience working directly with collegiate athletic programs.
Prior to joining the GSC, Oliveira spent two seasons at NCAA Division I Seattle University, where he was the primary media liaison for volleyball, men’s and women’s swimming, and baseball.
He also gained valuable experience at Washburn University over three seasons, supporting volleyball, women’s basketball, and baseball teams, as well as assisting 11 other varsity programs. Oliveira played a key role in expanding the Ichabods’ digital presence, spearheading the successful #DancingBods social media campaign that engaged over one million Twitter followers by leveraging local celebrities and influencers to boost support for NCAA Division II tournament runs in men’s basketball and volleyball.
Oliveira’s career began as the Sports Information Graduate Assistant at Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) for two years, followed by a year as Media Relations Assistant with the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
He is an active member of College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) and has served as chair of the organization’s Young Professional Committee.
Oliveira earned his Bachelor’s degree from Lasell College in 2013 and completed his Master’s degree at AUM in 2015.
