GSC Women's Soccer Weekly Awards: Sept. 1

The Gulf South Conference announced its first set of women’s soccer Player of the Week awards for performances based on matches from Aug. 27-30.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Caroline Chandler, Sr., MF, Delta State
  • Scored the go-ahead goal in the 63rd minute and assisted the game-winning goal in the 84th minute to register three points in Delta State’s season-opening, 3-2 victory at Saint Leo on Aug. 27.
  • Averaged 75:30 minutes per game, including a 0-0 tie at Eckerd College on Aug. 29.
  • Registered three total shots in the two games.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Allie Kimbrell, Jr., D, West Alabama
  • Scored the game-winning goal and protected the backline for 90 minutes in a 1-0 shutout victory over Kentucky Wesleyan on Aug. 28. 
  • Netted her first career goal at UWA and fourth of her college career.
  • Helped hold KWU to nine total shots, including five on goal.

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Piper Burgess, R-So., GK, Delta State
  • Posted her fifth career shutout and first of the season in a 0-0 tie at Eckerd College on Aug. 28. 
  • Collected a career-high 11 saves against the Tritons, while facing 22 total shots.
  • Made her first start of the season and 16th career start for Delta State.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Eva Hendricks, Fr., F, AUM
  • Led the GSC with five total points during Week 1, scoring two goals and assisting another to help AUM to a 1-0-1 opening week.  
  • Scored her first collegiate goal in the 48th minute to even the score in a 1-1 tie against Emory University, the 2025 NCAA Division III national runner-up.
  • Converted her first collegiate penalty kick in a 3-0 win over Edward Waters.
  • Recorded a career-high 11 shots and five on goal against Edward Waters to finish the week with a GSC-leading 14 shots and seven on goal.
