INDIANAPOLIS — For the first time since 2021, five Gulf South Conference baseball teams—Delta State, Lee, Trevecca Nazarene, West Alabama and West Florida—will be part of the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship as the tournament's 56-team field was announced.
Postseason play for the GSC quintet will begin with regional action. The eight regional tournaments are played across 16 campus and will take place May 14-17.
It is the eighth consecutive season with three or more GSC teams in the NCAA tournament and the eighth time since 2000 with four or more teams.
NCAA BRACKET
West Florida, the 2026 GSC Baseball Champions, will be the No. 1-seed in South Region, and will be one of the two host sites, for the third time in six years.
Joining the Argonauts at Jim Spooner Field will be familiar faces in No. 4-seed Delta State, No. 5-seed Lee, as well as No. 8-seed and SIAC Champion Edward Waters. West Florida opens its fourth consecutive tournament against Edward Waters.
Delta State and Lee will face-off for the fifth time this season as they open respective tournament campaigns. The Statesmen are making their third-consecutive NCAA appearance, while the Flames return to the tournament after missing out last season.
GSC regular season champion West Alabama will be the No. 6-seed and make back-to-back trips to the NCAA tournament for the first time in nearly a decade. Trevecca Nazarene meanwhile will be the No. 7-seed and reach the South Regional for the first time in program history.
Both the Tigers and Trojans head to Tampa, Fla., and will be hosted by No. 2-seed and Sunshine State Conference Champion Tampa. West Alabama's first game will be against No. 3-seed Rollins and Trevecca will open against Tampa.
The regional format for the DII baseball championship is double-elimination tournament spread across 16 campus locations. Two teams from each region the advance to the super regionals, held May 21-23. The highest remaining seed for each region will host a best-of-three series.
The remaining teams then travel to Cary, N.C to play an eight-team double-elimination bracket at the USA Baseball National Training Complex beginning May 29, with a national champion crowned June 6.
