AUM's Orr Named NCBWA South Region Player of the Week

LAKELAND, Fla. — The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) announced its fifth NCAA Division II Players of the Week awards for 2025 season for performances between March 3-9. Auburn Montgomery's Riley Orr was named South Region Player of the Week.

Orr drove in 13 runs, as AUM went 3-1, including a series sweep over Lee. In 17 at-bats, the junior outfielder notched a .588 batting average (10-for-17), slugged 1.176, had a .632 on-base percentage, and scored six times. He began the week with a four-RBI performance against Shorter while going 3-for-5 at the plate. In the series against Lee, Orr was a combined 7-for-12 (.583) in the batter's box with nine RBI. His standout performance was a 5-for-6 showing with seven RBI and two runs scored in game two, in AUM's 11-10 win.

He previously earned Player of the Week honors at the conference level. Orr is first GSC hitter this season to be recognzied with weekly accolades. 

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport. Members receive a membership card, directory, newsletter updates and official votes in the Howser Award Player of the Year, Regional Player of the Year and NCBWA All-America voting. The NCBWA also sponsors preseason All-America awards, publication and writing contests.
