GSC Football Weekly Awards: Nov. 17

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Gulf South Conference announced its last installment of Football Players of the Week following Week 11 performances of the 2025 season. For second straight week, Valdosta State swept the awards as Jameson Holcomb (offensive), Julius Pascal (defensive) and Matt Rolader (special teams & freshman) were reach recognized.  

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jameson Holcomb, Jr., QB, Valdosta State

  • Threw for 331 years and four touchdowns as the Blazers defeated No. 3 West Florida, 47-44, and claimed a share of the GSC title. 
  • Completed 20 of 37 passes and had a long of 41 yards.
  • Posted career-best numbers in passing touchdowns and passing yards.
  • This is his first GSC weekly award.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Julius Pascal, R-So., LB, Valdosta State

  • Tallied 11 tackles in the Blazers win at No. 3 West Florida, helping the team earn a share of the GSC title.
  • Finished with nine solo tackles, two tackles for loss and had three pass breakups.
  • Second straight week named GSC Defensive of the Week.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Matt Rolader, Fr., K, Valdosta State

  • Converted a game-winning 37-yard field in overtime to help Valdosta State beat No. 3 West Florida, 47-44, and claim a share of the GSC title.
  • It was his only field goal attempt of the game.
  • Accounted for nine points as he was also 6-for-6 in PAT kicks.
  • This is the second consecutive week earning GSC Special Team honors and third time this season.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Matt Rolader, K, Valdosta State

  • Converted a game-winning 37-yard field in overtime to help Valdosta State beat No. 3 West Florida, 47-44, and claim a share of the GSC title.
  • It was his only field goal attempt of the game.
  • Accounted for nine points as he was also 6-for-6 in PAT kicks.
  • This is the third time earning GSC freshman weekly honors.
