Mississippi College, West Florida Set for GSC Men’s Soccer Championship Title Game

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Top-seeded Mississippi College and second-seeded West Florida earned their way into the final of the 2025 Gulf South Conference Men’s Soccer Championship on Friday at the Loretta P. Spencer Sports Complex in Huntsville, Ala.

#1 Mississippi College def. #5 UAH, 2-1 | Box Score
Mississippi College rallied in the day's opening  game to advance to its first-ever Championship final. Down 1-0 at halftime, Mississippi College came out swinging as GSC Freshman of the Year, Russell Berko, tallied the equalizer in the 52nd minute, finding the back of the net on a header with help from Lewis Matton. Berko then provided the game-winner in the 88th minute, securing MC's spot in Sunday's title game. UAH's lone goal of the evening was registered by Oli Orzechowski in the 40th minute.  

#2 West Florida def. #3 AUM, 6-3 | Box Score
West Florida returns to the championship game in record-setting fashion, scoring the most goals in tournament-history in a single game. Despite AUM controlling the tempo at the beginning of the first half, West Florida found success with a 28th-minute goal from Adrian Rodriguez. Then in the 43rd minute, the Argonauts doubled their lead with Callum Edwards hit the ball just inside the lower right corner.

Holding a 2-0 lead, UWF continued the scoring into the second half as Manu Bernabeu scored in the 58th minute with help from Kendrick Hernandez and Rafael Esteves. AUM responded with back-to-back goals from Robiston Lukau in the 61st minute and Benjamin Hoffman in the 63rd minute to make 3-2. The Warhawks scored once more in the 75th minute as Sean Keane hit one on target, however that followed UWF's fourth goal of the evening by Rodridgo Bacci in the 67th. Edwards then put the game out of reach late, scoring in the 82nd minute and 88th minute, to tally the first-ever hat trick in tournament history.

With the result, West Florida and AUM combined a tournament record nine goals, while the Argonauts move on to their a conference-best 20th GCS tournament title game.
