The Gulf South Conference announced its fifth men’s and women’s golf weekly awards recipients of the 2025-26 season, with performances from October 1-7.
GSC WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Millie Thompson, Sr., Gillingham, England
Thompson shot 220 four-over-par and finished tied for eighth at the St. Simons Intercollegiate, hosted by Lincoln Memorial at the King and Prince Resort & Club in St. Simons Island, Ga. The senior opened the 54-hole tournament with a 76, before carding scores of 73 and 71 over the next two rounds. She sank six of her 10 birdies during her third-round performance. Thompson, who tied teammate Isabela Urruchua, helped the Argonauts to a second place in the team competition.

GSC WOMEN’S GOLF FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Lauren Patterson, West Florida
Patterson had a strong showing at the St. Simons Intercollegiate, held at the King and Prince Resort & Club, where she finished tied for 14th. The rookie carded a three-round score of 223 (+7), highlighted by eight birdies, including five in the second round. She began the tournament with a solid 71 one-under par behind an almost bogey-free round, before registering scores of 75 and 77 during the second and third rounds, respectively. Patterson finished third among her Argo teammates helping West Florida to a second-place finish. This is Patterson’s second GSC weekly freshman award of the season after previously being acknowledge on Sept. 25.

GSC MEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
William Carestam, Jr., Valdosta State
Carestam carded a 211 five-under-par at the National Preview held at Boulder Creek Golf Course in Boulder City, Nev. As a result, the junior finished tied for 20th in a field of 94 competitors. Over the sequence of three rounds, he navigated the 7,421-yard par-72 course by tallying scores of 70, 72, and 69. He parred 33 of 54 holes while also recording 11 birdies and two eagles. Carestam led the Blazers as they earned a 12th-place finish.
