BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Gulf South Conference announced its Football Players of the Week following Week 5 performances of the 2025 season. West Florida and Valdosta State split the weekly honors as Argonaut quarterback Marcus Stokes (offensive) and linebacker Ja’Kobe Clinton (defensive) were recognized along with Blazer kicker Matt Rolader (special teams) and running back Ostin Perkins (freshman).

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Marcus Stokes, R-So., QB, West Florida

• Led the Argonauts to a 31-24 win at Northeastern State.
• Completed 26 of 37 passes for 332 yards and four touchdowns.
• Notched his third 300-yard passing performance of the season.
• Second time earning GSC Offensive Player of the Week award this season.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ja’Kobe Clinton, R-Sr., LB, West Florida

• Had 10 tackles, including seven stops in a 31-24 road win at Northeastern State.
• Tallied three tackles for loss totaling 19 yards and had 1.5 sacks for 12 yards.
• Recorded one pass breakup.
• First GSC Defensive Player of the Week award this season, last won the award on Oct. 28 last year.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Matt Rolader, Fr., K, Valdosta State

• Responsible for eight points as he converted two field goals and two extra points.
• Converted a season-long 41-yarder.
• First GSC Special Teams Player of the Week this season.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Ostin Perkins, Fr., RB, Valdosta State

• Led the Blazers ground game with 53 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries.
• Gave Valdosta State a 25-21 led with 8:54 remaining.
• First GSC Freshman of the Week award.
