BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Lee University was tabbed to finish atop the field in the 2024 Gulf South Conference Men's Cross Country Coaches Preseason Poll, as voted on by the league's head coaches.
The Flames received 98 points overall and eight-of-10 possible first-place votes. Lee will look to win its third-straight GSC title this season. Alabama Huntsville finished in second place with 92 points and three first-place votes, while Mississippi College came in third with 83 overall points.
The rest of the preseason predictions were a bit closer as No. 4 Christian Brothers collected 64 points, No. 5 West Florida picked 62 points and No. 6 Auburn Montgomery checked in with 61 points. Meanwhile, No. 7 Union received 42 points and No. 8 Montevallo followed with 41 points.
The rest of the poll saw Trevecca Nazarene picked ninth, trailed by No. 10 Valdosta State, with West Alabama rounding out the 11-team field.
The 2024 men's cross country season will be the 54th in GSC history and the first for Trevecca Nazarene as a member of the conference.
The campaign is slated to get underway on Friday, Sept. 6. The GSC Men's Cross Country Championship meanwhile is set for October 26 at Freedom Park in Valdosta, Ga. The full 2024 schedule can be found
