BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Gulf South Conference has announced its 2024 Preseason All-GSC Football Team, as chosen by the league’s head coaches.
West Florida had a conference-leading 10 student-athletes selected, followed by Delta State who had nine. Mississippi College and North Greenville each had three players selected, while preseason favorite Valdosta State and West Alabama had two representatives apiece.
The Argonauts led the way on the defensively with seven preseason picks, highlighted by 2023 All-GSC linemen Traevon Mitchell and Byron Puryear, as well as impact linebackers Will Breland and Ralph Ortiz. Meanwhile, the Statesmen had a conference-best seven offensive selections, including 2023 First Team All-GSC offensive lineman Gavin Campbell and Jaelon Brown, as well as Second Team All-GSC backfield threat Kelvin Smith.
The team featured 20 All-GSC selections from a season ago, including 13 second team picks and seven first teamers.
The 2024 Gulf South Conference football season begins Thursday, August 29 when Delta State visits Mars Hill.
