Women's Tennis 2024 All-GSC, Major Awards Announced

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The Gulf South Conference unveiled its women’s tennis All-GSC teams and major awards for the 2024 season, as selected by conference’s head coaches. 
 
The awards were headlined by West Alabama graduate student Khim Iglupas as she was named Player of the Year. Christian Brothers rookie Sofia Zemtsova was voted Freshman of the Year, while UWA head coach Jeff Beaman collected Coach of the Year accolades. 
 
The All-GSC selections was comprised of 17 student-athletes representing seven different schools. Auburn Montgomery, Mississippi College, Valdosta State, West Alabama and West Florida had three honorees apiece, while Christian Brothers and Lee each had one.
 
Iglupas finished the season with a 17-1 singles record, including a 10-0 in conference action, while playing exclusively at the No. 1 position. She finished the regular season with a 13-match win streak and went 5-0 against nationally ranked opponents. In doubles, she posted a combined 15-4 record, while featuring predominately at the No. 2 spot alongside partner Heden Ly. 
 
Zemtsova is the first CBU recipient of the conference’s top freshman award. The rookie went 13-5 on season in singles while playing entirely on court one for the Lady Bucs. In doubles, partnered with Viktoriia Grigoreva, she assembled a 9-7 mark again playing solely at court one.
 
Beaman was named Coach of the Year for the fifth consecutive season. He led the Tigers to a fifth-straight GSC regular season crown after going 10-0 in conference play going 14-8 overall.
