The Gulf South Conference announced its Softball Players of the Week for the 2024 season. This week's awards were for games played between Feb. 12-18.
Player of the Week
Emma Brice, So., UTIL, West Florida
Brice led West Florida to a 5-1 record last week with a solid weekend at the plate as she went 12-for-24 for a .500 batting average, slugged 1.250 and posted a .500 on-base percentage. The sophomore notched drove in 10 runs, scored 11 times, and had eight extra base hits including five home runs and three doubles. In a non-conference doubleheader against Valdosta State, Brice was a combined 4-for-8 with five runs, three RBI and three home runs. She opened the twinbill with a 2-for-4 outing outing scoring three times with two solo home runs. Brice then helped UWF sweep its four-game weekend slate as it faced Tusculum, Columbus State, Newberry and Georgia Southwestern, during which she was a combined 8-for-16 in the batter's box with seven RBI, six runs, three doubles and two home runs. The Tallahassee, Fla., native then had a standout performance against CSU as she went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, a home run and two runs scored.

Pitcher of the Week
Lainey Baker, So., P, Union
Baker helped Union to a 2-1 victory over 13th-ranked West Alabama to open GSC play. The sophomore was credited with the win as she pitched an eight-inning complete in the series opener. Baker struck out 15, walked three, scattered just three hits, allowed one unearne run, while the Tigers were .107 at the plate. Baker's 15-K performance was GSC-best this season and tied her for second-best single-game outing among NCAA Division II pitchers.

Freshman of the Week:
Toree Wofford, P, Fr., Valdosta State
Wofford secured her second weekly award after notching a pair of wins last week in a series win over AUM to open the conference schedule. The rookie went the distance in both outings, working seven innings in a 8-1 victory in the opener before tossing six innings in the rubber match as the Blazers won 11-3. Wofford allowed a combined 10 hits and four earned runs while registering four strikeouts against 51 total batters faced while holding the Warhawk hitters to a .204 batting average. She opened the week with a two-inning relief appearance against West Florida in non-conference action.
