2024 GSC Women's Soccer Awards Announced

Gulf South Conference regular-season champion West Florida took home three of the four major awards, while nine programs were represented on the All-GSC teams. The 2024 All-GSC selections and major awards were voted by the leagues 13 head coaches, who could not vote for their own student-athletes.
 
Argonaut forward Mya Swinton claimed Offensive Player of the Year, while goalkeeper Maciah Lipsey took home Defensive Player of the Year, while Joe Bartlinski was named Coach of the Year. Valdosta State midfielder Maria Rojas was tabbed Freshman of the Year.
 
Montevallo had a conference-best eight All-GSC selections, while West Florida followed with six honorees. Lee had two selections. Mississippi College, Union and Valdosta State had two apiece. Alabama Huntsville, Delta State and Spring Hill were represented with one each.
 
Swinton posted 23 points, while scoring eight goals and seven assists. She finished among the top-three in each category, while appearing in 16 games with 15 starts. Her 28 shots on goal was a team-best. Swinton, the Offensive Player of the Year a season ago, is the first player ever–man or woman–to win the award twice. 
 
Lipsey posted a conference-leading goals against average (.659). Starting all 16 games for the Argos, she logged 1366 minutes, while recording 32 saves on 79 shots faced. The graduate keeper tallied a 12-1-3 record with five clean sheets. Lipsey, the 2022 winner of the GSC’s top defensive award, is the first player ever-man or woman-to win the award twice. 
 
Rojas led Valdosta State and was among GSC leaders with five goals in her first season. The rookie appeared in 17 games, starting four times, and logged 620 minutes. She also registered 22 shots with a team-best 14 shots on goal. Rojas is the third Blazer to win the award and the first since Molly Wooldridge in 2021.
 
For ninth time in his in career Bartlinski took home the GSC top coaching award. He is the first coach to win the award in three consecutive seasons. Under his direction, West Florida finished 10-0-2 in conference play to win its 17th GSC regular season title, going 12-1-3 overall, and scoring a league-best 37 goals and allowing a GSC-low 10 goals.
