BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — For the second time in as many weeks, the Gulf South Conference was represented as D2Football.com announced its National Players of the Week for Week 4 of the 2023 season.

Among the honorees, was Delta State graduate quarterback Patick Shegog, who earned Offensive Player of the Week honors. He was joined by Loobert Denelus from Benedict (Defensive) and Coleman Chapman of Black Hills State.

Shegog put together a standout performance as he accounted for all seven of Delta State's eight touchdowns in a 56-20 win over Shorter in GSC action. The graduate quarterback was a dual-threat completing 15-of-19 passes for 218 yards with five touchdown passes, while also leading the Statesmen’s ground attack with 138 yards on 10 carries and two touchdowns.
