Six Golfers Earn GCAA PING All-Region Awards

NORMAN, Okla. – The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) has released the 2022 NCAA Division II PING All-Region teams. Among the 14 individuals named, the Gulf South Conference had six honorees.

Lee led the way with three selections while West Florida, West Georgia and Union each had one athlete earn All-Region honors.
 
GSC Golfer of the Year Beck Burnette was one of those selected from Lee. Burnette’s season included a tied-second finish at the 2022 GSC Championship and an average score of 70.60 (-1.10). He was joined by Oliver Lewis-Perkins who was recognized after a season average of 71.89 (+0.11). Connor Polman also recieved an all-region nod with a 71.52 (-.015) season average. The Lee trio also garnered First Team All-GSC honors.
 
West Georgia’s Austin Fulton was also selected to the South’s All-Region team. The First Team All-GSC selection shot  an average tally of 69.95 (-1.90) and earned an individual berth at the NCAA National Championship.
 
West Florida's Elias Haavisto earned recognition after a season where the sophomore shot 71.18 (-0.27) on average, was back-to-back GSC Championship Individual Medalist and named All-GSC First Team. 
 
Union's JJ Zimmer also landed on the GCAA South All-Region team. The GSC Freshman of the Year shot an average of 70.60 (-1.10) through his 25 rounds of action.
