Shorter's Pintaro, Union's Music Earn NCBWA Weekly Regional Honors
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) announced its weekly NCAA Division II awards for the week ending April 10. Among those earning mentioned was Union’s Patrick Music who was named NCBWA South Region Hitter of the Week and Shorter’s Jonathan Pintaro was named South Region Pitcher of the Week.

Music helped Union to a 3-2 week as he went 11-for-21 (.524) at the plate with two homeruns, three doubles, seven runs scored, and 15 RBI. The senior infielder led the Bulldogs to three-straight wins to begin the week as was a combined 5-for-8 with nine RBI and four runs scored as the in a twin bill sweep against Lane. Music then notched a 3-for-5, six RBI outing in the series opener with Auburn Montgomery. He also posted a .952 slugging percentage and .542 on-base percentage for the five-game week.
Pintaro helped Shorter to a pair of wins last week, as he was credited with a win against Christian Brothers and earned a save against Carson-Newman in midweek action. In the win against CBU, the senior right-hander tossed a seven-inning complete-game and notched a career-high 17 strikeouts. As a result, Pintaro is now tied sixth in the conference record book for single-game strikeouts, while also becoming the GSC's all-time career strikeout leader with 374.
With the NCBWA announcement, the GSC has now had five different players from four different schools earn regional accolades this season.
