GSC Winter Academic Awards Unveiled
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Four hundred ten student-athletes across four sports were named to the Gulf South Conference 2021-22 Winter Academic Honor Roll. The sports recognized for the winter season included men’s and women’s basketball as well as men’s and women’s indoor track & field.
HONOR ROLL | ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
To achieve honor roll status, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of 3.00 or better and have competed in outside competition at the time the award was announced.
The GSC also unveiled its All-Academic teams for the four winter sports.
In order to be named to the GSC All-Academic team, nominees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or better their entire academic career at the institution and may not be freshmen or first-term transfer. The student-athlete must also be a significant contributor to the squad. Other factors include leadership, community service and extracurricular activities. Institutions are not allowed to vote for their own student-athletes. The number of student-athletes selected in each sport is determined by the number of positions normally involved in the playing of that sport. Ties are not broken.
NOTES:
- Of the 410 student-athlete named, there were 118 in women’s basketball, 114 honorees in women’s indoor track & field, 103 in men’s indoor track & field, and 75 honorees in men’s basketball.
- 251 honorees, or 62.1 percent, were recognized with a GPA of 3.50 of higher, including 72 with a 4.00.
- Alabama Huntsville led the conference with 71 student-athletes recognized.
