#GSCWBB Semifinals Set for Saturday
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The 2022 Gulf South Conference Women's Basketball Championships presented TicketSmarter began to Tuesday with quarterfinal round action. Three of the top four seeded teams were victorious with No.1 Union, No. 2 Valdosta State and No. 3 Lee all advancing in double-digit fashion, while No. 5 Delta State rattled off an exciting win on the road.
The four remaining teams will now turn their attention to the semifinals on Saturday at the Pete Hanna Center in Birmingham, Ala. Action in the Magic City will see Union and Delta State face-off, while Valdosta State and Lee go head-to-head. Tickets for the semifinals are now available for purchase online through the Samford ticket office.

#1 Union 69, #8 Montevallo 50
• Union completed 10-of-24 attempts (.417) from the three-point range for the game.
• The Falcons finished with an 11-5 advantage in steals.
• The Bulldogs were led by Jaelencia Williams who had game-highs with 21 points, 15 rebounds and seven blocks.
• Kiya Siad led Montevallo in scoring with 15 points, while Shyan Flack had eight boards.
#2 Valdosta State vs #7 West Alabama
• Valdosta State had a 15-point lead at the half, converting 12-of-29 attempts (.414) from the floor.
• West Alabama surged in the third outscoring the Lady Blazers, 22-17.
• VSU pulled away late with a 24-3 fourth quarter.
• VSU’s Nicole Heyn led all player with 19 points, while shooting 6-for-10 including 5-for-5 from free throw line.
• Tasza Garrett-Hammett lead UWA with 14 points, while Bria Dent had six rebounds.
#3 Lee 77, #6 Mississippi College 54
• Close game during the opening two periods of play, resulted in a 30-30 tie at the break.
• The Lady Flames shot 54.8 percent from the field in the second half, making 6-of-12 from behind the arc.
• Lee outscored MC, 47-24 in the second half.
• Three Lee players scored double-figures, including Haley Schubert and Halle Hughes who tied with a game-high 17 points.
• Mississippi College was led by Amelia Bell who had 10 points and 12 rebounds.
#4 West Florida 51, #5 Delta State 63
• Delta State shot 46 percent in the first half.
• West Florida lead twice during the first quarter before a jumper from Zyaire Ewing at 5:36 put DSU up for good.
• UWF had two double-figure scorers in Jaclyn Jarnot (20 pts) and Zoe Piller (12 pts). Jarnot finished with a game-high 14 rebounds.
• T’Kyra Hicks (20 pts) and Ke’Vonshaye Stackhouse (15 pts) netted double-digits for DSU. Stackhouse was 6-for-8 from three-point distance.
