Lee Captures Third-Straight Indoor Track & Field Crown
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Gulf South Conference Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships concluded on Wednesday with Lee winning its third-consecutive conference title.

The Lady Flames topped the team standings with 260.5 overall points, while Mississippi College (123.5) and West Georgia (79) rounded out the top three spots.
In the high jump, Lee’s Liezl Theron edged out Mississippi College’s Tytavia Hardy with a jump of 1.63 meters. Shorter’s Camielle Milledge (1.60m) also reached the podium as she finished third.
Hardy rebounded in the triple jump as she claimed the top step with jump of 11.90m. Lee’s Carissa Hall (11.56m) and UWG’s Haley Trammell (11.50m) followed in second and third, respectively.
In the weight throw, Christian Brothers’ Essence Tornabene posted the event’s top mark with a toss of 16.61 meters. She was followed by Brandi Boddy from West Georgia (16.57m) and Montevallo’s Nyla Shipman (16.52m).
On the track, Lee’s Celine Ritter had herself a day winning the mile (4:45.72), 800-meter (2:13.89) and 3000-meter (10:01.59) races. Her time in the mile smashed the previous meet record by 22 seconds.
MC’s Jazmin Hernandez (2:16.20) and Lee’s Liza Kellerman (2:16.50) took second and third, respectively in the 800m. Hernandez (4:59.40) also finished third in the mile. Lee’s Toni Moore placed second in 800 (4:56.08) and 3000 (10:05.97), while teammate Danielle Horter posted a third-place time in the 3000.
Lee’s Mikayla Beeler won the 400 with a time of 59.95, while MC’s Ezra McCaw (57.70) and CBU’s Oriana Gee (57.85) followed in order.
In the 60 hurdles, MC’s Hardy earned another podium finish, winning the event with a meet record-setting time of 8.60. Lee’s Hannah Wright following in second at 8.63, while UAH’s Ronni Vanzandt (9.09) placed third.
Lee swept the 60-meter dash with Kristen Blevins placing first behind a meet-record time of 7.55, while Kyleeyah Whitehead (7.69) and Baylie Murphy (7.79) followed.
Blevins then won the 200 as she checked in at 24.62, while teammate Hannah Wright finished third with a time of 24.96. MC’s McCaw took second as came in at 24.92.
The day closed with another meet record as Lee won the 4x400 relay as the quartet of Janay Ryan, Blevins, Carissa Hall and Beeler posted a time of 3:53.30, bettering the previous mark by 1.6 seconds. MC (3:57.62) and UAH (3:58.36) followed in order.
Following the race, MC’s Marina Rizk was named the GSC Champion Scholar-Athlete. Lee’s Ritter was named Most Outstanding Track Performer, while Aria Hawkins garner top freshman accolades. MC’s Hardy meanwhile was named top field honors and the event’s Most Outstanding Overall Performer.
