Celebrating Black History Month: Masego Ntshingane

In an effort to celebrate Black History Month, the Gulf South Conference will share the stories and accomplishments of past student-athletes from member institutions.  
 

A four-year member of Auburn Montgomery men's soccer, Masego Ntshingane, led the program to four-consecutive NAIA tournament appearances including NAIA runner-up awards in 2001 and 2004. He earned All-NAIA honors in 2002 and 2004, and finished his career with 38 goals and 19 assists while starting 65 of 67 games.

The Gabarone, Bostwana native also represented his country on the international stage as he played on the Under-17, U-20 and the U-23 teams before being selected to play on the Senior national team. Ntshingane appeared in 33 international matches as a member of Botswana's National team competing in World Cup Qualifiers and the Africa Cup of Nations.

Following his playing career, Ntshingane continued to be involved in soccer by joining the Bostwana Football Association (BFA) where he served as the Chairman of the Technical and Youth Development Committee. He has since risen through the ranks and currently serves as the BFA's Second Vice President of the Executive. The BFA oversees approximately 280 clubs across three seperate divisions while also providing youth development programs, talent scouting, school of excellence and an out reach program that targets disadvantaged children in rural areas.

Ntshingane graduated from AUM in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, before receiving a MBA from the University of Botswana in 2016. In 2018, the midfielder was inducteed into AUM Athletics' Hall of Fame.
