The Gulf South Conference announced its Football Players of the Week for Week 6 (Oct. 3-9) of the 2022 season.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: John Henry White, R-Fr., QB, Mississippi College
White led Mississippi College to a 35-21 road win against Shorter on Saturday. The redshirt-freshman signal caller finished with two rushing touchdowns and ran for a game-high 270 yards. He also added 59 yards through the air and completed 4-for-5 passes. The Choctaws finished with 586 total yards of offense, with 527 on the ground, good for the sixth all-time in GSC history. White’s rushing performance was a GSC single-game high this season and fourth all-time in the GSC record book, while his 35 carries tied for ninth in league-history.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Tyrell Goldsmith, R-Jr., DB, Delta State
Goldsmith helped Delta State extend its win streak to six games with a 47-14 decision against North Greenville. The redshirt-junior registered seven tackles in the outing, including six solo stops. He was stingy though the air with two pass deflections and hauled in two interceptions which were returned for a total of 19 yards.

SPECIAL TEAM PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Gabriel Dunkle, Sr., K, West Alabama
Dunkle helped West Alabama to a 34-31 win on Saturday at Valdosta State. The senior kicker accounted for 10 points highlighted by a pair of field goals as converted 2-of-3 attempts, including a season-long 41-yarder. Dunkle was 4-for-4 in PATs and had six kickoffs, averaging for 46.7 yards.
