GSC Announces 2021 Winter Academic Awards
2021 GSC WINTER ACADEMIC HONOR ROLL
2021 GSC WINTER ALL-ACADEMIC TEAMS
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Gulf South Conference is proud to announce the academic awards for the 2021 winter season.
The winter sports honored are men's basketball, women's basketball, men’s indoor track and field, and women’s indoor track and field.
Academic All-GSC Teams are selected by the Gulf South Conference Sports Information Directors (SIDs) and Faculty Athletic Representatives (FARs) in a joint vote. Nominees must have an overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.20 or better on a 4.00 scale for their entire academic career and may not be freshmen or first-semester or quarter transfers. The student-athlete must be a significant contributor to the squad. Other factors include leadership, community service and extra-curricular activities. SIDs and FARs are not allowed to vote for their own student-athletes. The number of student-athletes selected in each sport is determined by the number of positions normally involved in the playing of that sport. Ties are not broken.
JJ Kaplan (UAH; men's basketball) and
Brynne Lytle (CBU; women's basketball) earned All-Academic honors for the third time in their careers. Additionally, there were 14 student-athletes named All-Academic for the second time.
A total of 414 athletes were named to GSC Winter Academic Honor Roll. There were 92 honorees in men’s basketball, 117 honorees in women’s basketball, 100 honorees in men’s indoor track and field, and 105 honorees in women’s indoor track and field. Montevallo led the conference with 69 student-athletes earning recognition.
