BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gulf South Conference has announced the 2021 women's golf all-conference awards, as voted on by the league's head coaches.
West Georgia's
Ainsley Cowart has been named GSC Golfer of the Year, while Shorter's
Paola Rosario has been selected as the Freshman of the Year. UWG's
Todd Selders earned Coach of the Year recognition.
Cowart has the top stroke average in the GSC this season (74.21) and has six top five finishes this season, including one win and the runner-up finish at the conference meet. This is the sixth time in the last seven seasons that a UWG golfer has earned the league's top individual honor.
Rosario is the first Shorter women's golfer to be named the league's Freshman of the Year, and she was also named first team all-conference. Rosario was named GSC Freshman of the Week three times this season.
This is the first time in his career that Selders has been named GSC Coach of the Year. Selders led the Wolves to their second GSC Championship, also winning the title in 2017. Three golfers from UWG earned all-conference honors this year, and the team will tee off at the NCAA Super Regional next Monday, May 3.
