GSC Announces 2021 Men's Golf All-Conference Awards
2021 GSC MEN'S GOLF ALL-GSC TEAM
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gulf South Conference has announced the 2021 men's golf all-conference awards, as voted on by the league's head coaches.
West Florida's
Alejandro Restrepo has been named GSC Golfer of the Year, Lee's
Oliver-Lewis Perkins is the league's Freshman of the Year, and UWF's
Steve Fell has earned GSC Coach of the Year honors.
Restrepo has the top stroke average in the league (70.67) with a low round of 65 on the year. Overall, he has four top five finishes, including one win. Restrepo finished as the runner-up as last week's conference meet, helping the Argos win thee 18th GSC Championship in program history. His 11-under par, 205 was the sixth best performance in championship history. This is the 15th time in league history that a UWF golfer has won this award, and the fifth time in the last six seasons.
Lewis-Perkins has been named the league's top freshman in addition to earning a First Team All-GSC selection. He finished the year with a 71.92 stroke average and five top 10 finishes. At the GSC Championship, he earned All-Tournament honors with a fourth place finish and a six-under par performance. He is the first golfer in program history to win this award.
This is the 17th time in his career that Fell has been named the GSC Men's Golf Coach of the Year. The Argos enter the national postseason as the top team in the country, and all five golfers in their lineup were named All-GSC, including four first team selections.
