GSC Announces 2021 Women's Lacrosse All-Conference Awards

2021 GSC WOMEN'S LACROSSE ALL-GSC TEAM

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.
 – The Gulf South Conference has announced its 2021 women's lacrosse all-conference awards, as voted on by the league's head coaches. Lee's Brittney White was named the GSC Player of the Year, and teammate Kaleigh Bernard was named GSC Defensive Player of the Year. Young Harris' Ella Hancock was named GSC Freshman of the Year, and Lee's Derrel Martin was named GSC Coach of the Year.

White led the Lady Flames in goals and led Lee to the program's first GSC regular season title. Overall, White finished second in the league in goals per game (4.58) and fourth in the league in overall points per game (5.08). Additionally, White led the league with 98 draw controls (8.17 per game). In league play, she led the GSC in goals per game (6.5).

Bernard takes home the league's top defensive prize in her freshman season. She played in all 12 games for the Lady Flames and ranks in the league's top five in goal allowed per game and overall save percentage.

Young Harris has been dominant in conference play since the league began sponsoring, but Hancock is only the second Mountain Lion to be named GSC Freshman of the Year. Hancock was named GSC Freshman of the Week three times during the season and finished the season fifth on YHC in goals scored (12).

Martin led Lee to not only its first undefeated conference season, but the first winning league year in program history. Overall, the Lady Flames finished 9-3, and Lee earned Player and Defensive Player of the Year honors for the first time in program history.
