2020 GSC SPRING ACADEMIC HONOR ROLL
2020 GSC SPRING ALL-ACADEMIC TEAMS

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Gulf South Conference is proud to announce the academic awards for the 2020 spring season.

The spring sports honored are baseball, softball, golf, lacrosse, and tennis. Under normal circumstances, outdoor track & field also would have been recognized, but that season did not have enough weeks of competition due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Academic All-GSC Teams are selected by the Gulf South Conference Sports Information Directors (SIDs) and Faculty Athletic Representatives (FARs) in a joint vote. Nominees must have an overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.20 or better on a 4.00 scale for their entire academic career and may not be freshmen or first-semester or quarter transfers. The student-athlete must be a significant contributor to the squad. Other factors include leadership, community service and extra-curricular activities. SIDs and FARs are not allowed to vote for their own student-athletes. The number of student-athletes selected in each sport is determined by the number of positions normally involved in the playing of that sport. Ties are not broken.

There are seven three-time honorees in the group: Charles Wood (UM; men's golf), Haverly Harrold (LEE; women's golf), Judianne Speach (LEE; women's golf), Mary Deatrick (YHC; lacrosse), Leigh Anne Turner (YHC; lacrosse), Juan Cabrera (UWF; men's tennis), and Juan Motta (UWF; men's tennis).

Additionally, 15 student-athletes are receiving the honor for the second time.

A total of 786 student-athletes finished with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 and were named to the GSC Winter Academic Honor Roll.

For the third straight year, Montevallo had the most student-athletes on the spring academic honor roll.

The all-academic teams and the complete list of honor roll selections can be found at the top of the page.
