2020 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ALL-GSC TEAMS

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gulf South Conference has announced its 2020 women’s basketball all-conference awards, as voted on by the league’s head coaches. Jada Smith of Union was named GSC Player of the Year, Marisa Snodgrass of Montevallo was named GSC Freshman of the Year, and Lee's Marty Rowe was named GSC Coach of the Year.

Smith has been an offensive catalyst for the Lady Bulldogs all season. The now two-time All-GSC selection is averaging 18.4 points per game, which is the third best scoring average in the conference this season. Smith has 13 games with 20 or more points, including a career-high 30 in a win against West Alabama. She is also averaging 5.2 assists per game, which ranks second in the GSC. She is the third player from Union to win this award in six seasons, joining Amy Philamlee (2014-15) and Chelsey Shumpert (2017-18).

Snodgrass is the third Falcon to be named GSC Freshman of the Year. The Hazel Green, Alabama native scored in double figures in 12 contests, including a career-high 18 against Clark Atlanta. Snodgrass also averaged 4.3 assists this season, which is the fourth best average in the conference. She was named GSC Freshman of the Week five times this season.

One year after winning the GSC Championship, Rowe guided the Lady Flames to a share of their first ever GSC Regular Season Title. This season, he led Lee to a 25-3 mark, and he has now surpassed 20 wins every year since arriving at Lee in 2004-05. Lee has advanced to the NCAA Tournament the last three seasons and is poised to do so again, topping the regional rankings heading into the postseason. This is Rowe's first career GSC Coach of the Year honor.
