GSC Announces 2019 Fall Academic Awards
2019 GSC FALL ACADEMIC HONOR ROLL
2019 GSC FALL ALL-ACADEMIC TEAMS
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Gulf South Conference is proud to announce the academic awards for the 2019 fall season.
The fall sports honored are men's cross country, women's cross country, football, men's soccer, women's soccer, and volleyball.
Academic All-GSC Teams are selected by the Gulf South Conference Sports Information Directors (SIDs) and Faculty Athletic Representatives (FARs) in a joint vote. Nominees must have an overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.20 or better on a 4.00 scale for their entire academic career and may not be freshmen or first-semester or quarter transfers. The student-athlete must be a significant contributor to the squad. Other factors include leadership, community service and extra-curricular activities. SIDs and FARs are not allowed to vote for their own student-athletes. The number of student-athletes selected in each sport is determined by the number of positions normally involved in the playing of that sport. Ties are not broken.
There are four three-time honorees in the group:
Willie Candler (UWG; football),
Tate Lehtio (UWF; football),
Tyler Pullum (SU; football), and
Cole Asfour (UU; men's soccer).
Additionally, 19 student-athletes are receiving the honor for the second time.
A total of 1,051 student-athletes finished with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 and were named to the GSC Fall Academic Honor Roll.
For the fourth straight year, Mississippi College had the most student-athletes on the fall academic honor roll.
The all-academic teams and the complete list of honor roll selections can be found at the top of the page.
