OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
|
Rogan Wells |
Valdosta State |
Passing Yards: 226 // Rushing Yards: 83 // Total Touchdowns: 4 // Interceptions: 0 |
Notes: Wells went 22-for-29 for 226 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the win over #20 West Alabama. Additionally, he ran for 83 yards and a TD, and he also caught a pass in the endzone for four total scores. This is the second time he's won this award this year and the eighth award of his career. He is only the third player in league history to be named the GSC Offensive Player of the Week at least eight times. Ed Lett (JSU) won it 10 times from 1980-82, and Scott Eyster (DSU) won it nine times from 2003-06. |
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
|
Aaron Dawson |
Valdosta State |
Tackles: 5 // TFL: 0.5 // Interceptions: 1 // Touchdowns: 1 |
Notes: Dawson recorded five tackles and had a critical pick six in VSU's 18th straight win. The Blazers defeated the Tigers in large part due to Dawson's timely score. His 80-yard interception return for a touchdown came in the fourth quarter when UWA had marched down to the VSU 27-yard line, looking to cut it to a one score game. His score put VSU up by 20, helping clinch the victory. He is the second straight Valdosta State defender to win this award. |

Field Goals Made: 5 // Field Goals Attempted: 5 |
Notes: Crabtree tied a GSC record with five made field goals in the DSU win over Florida Tech.
