Valdosta State and West Florida Earn GSC All-Sports Trophies

2018-19 GSC ALL-SPORTS TROPHY FINAL STANDINGS

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.
 - Valdosta State University and the University of West Florida finished atop the final edition of the 2018-19 Gulf South Conference All-Sports Trophy standings.

The Argonauts captured their sixth consecutive overall All-Sports Trophy and reclaimed the Women’s Trophy, while the Blazers won their first Men’s Trophy since the 2012-13 season.

UWF won its 13th women's crown in 14 years and 16th overall dating back to 1997-98. They continued their domination in the overall standings earning a sixth trophy since its creation in 2013-14. VSU won its eighth overall Men’s Trophy following a first place finish at the 2019 GSC Men's Tennis Championship.

West Florida finished first in the overall standings, compiling 91.750 total points followed by Leewho collected 83.375 points. The Argos captured conference titles in women’s soccer, volleyball, men’s golf, women’s tennis and softball. They also won regular season titles in women’s soccer, volleyball, softball and baseball.

Valdosta State (80.625) finished in third place, while Alabama Huntsville (78.250) and West Alabama (74.375) completed the Top Five. Mississippi College placed sixth (63.500), followed by West Georgia (60.000), Montevallo (59.500), Delta State (52.750), Union (49.125), Christian Brothers (40.875) and Shorter (27.375). 

The Conference will present the All-Sports Trophies at its annual awards banquet on Thursday, May 30 at the Hilton Pensacola Beach in Pensacola Beach, Fla.  At that time, the GSC will also recognize its "Top Ten" student-athletes and announce the winners of the Commissioner's Trophies.
