2019 BASEBALL ALL-GSC TEAMS

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Gulf South Conference has announced its 2019 baseball all-conference awards, as voted on by the league’s coaches. Mississippi College senior Blaine Crim was named the GSC Player of the Year, while West Florida took home the other three remaining major awards, with Andrew Vaccacio named Pitcher of the Year, Tony Rossi earning Freshman of the Year honors, and Mike Jeffcoat picking up Coach of the Year accolades.

Crim earned Player of the Year honors following an outstanding 2019 campaign for the Choctaws. He ranked in the conference top five for batting average, hits, RBIs, and home runs. The first baseman from Mobile, Alabama led the Gulf South with 21 doubles and a .716 slugging percentage. He became the all-time Mississippi College program leader in career hits earlier this month.

Vaccacio was named the GSC Pitcher of the Year in his first season with West Florida. He becomes the fourth Argonaut to win this honor in the last seven seasons. Vaccacio finished 2019 with a 6-1 record, ranking second in the conference with a 2.49 ERA and 79 total strikeouts.

Rossi became the second straight Argonaut to take home GSC Freshman of the Year honors after outfielder Matthew Estrada won it last season. Rossi made 13 total appearances on the mound for Argonauts and ranked fourth on the team in innings pitched and wins. The native of Lake Mary, Florida earned GSC Freshman of the Week honors twice during the regular season.

Jeffcoat was named the GSC Coach of the Year for the fifth time in his 14 years at the helm of the West Florida baseball program. He led the Argonauts to their first regular season conference title since 2016, after finishing 22-7 in Gulf South play.
