BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The 2019 NCAA South Regional Compliance Seminar was held earlier this week over the course of two days at the Wynfrey Hotel in Birmingham, Ala. The seminar was attended by more than 100 representatives from the Gulf South Conference, Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Peach Belt Conference and Sunshine State Conference. Also in attendance were Susan Peal, Amanda Conklin, Susan Britsch, Angela Red, Mike Bazemore and Melissa Marchini from the NCAA.

"We were thrilled to host the regional compliance seminar for the second time in three years as it's a fun, interactive event that promotes rule knowledge and allows our campuses to fully participate because of the proximity," GSC Assistant Commissioner Andrea Anderson stated. "The NCAA staff is always a pleasure to work with and we greatly appreciate the opportunity to make their knowledge more accessible to our membership."

The main topics of discussion included:
  • Basic Bylaws
  • Culture of Compliance
  • Transfer Portal
  • Organization for the “busy compliance administrator”
  • National Letter of Intent
  • Countable Athletically Related Activity (CARA)
