			2018 GSC ALL-CONFERENCE TEAMS
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gulf South Conference has announced the 2018 men’s basketball all-conference awards, as voted on by the league’s coaches. Valdosta State’s
Beau Justice has been named the GSC Player of the Year. Union’s
Tyree Boykin has been named the GSC Freshman of the Year, while West Florida’s
Jeff Burkhamer has been named GSC Coach of the Year.

Justice is the second straight Blazer to take home the league’s top individual honor. It is also the second straight year that Valdosta State has claimed the league’s regular season championship. The junior finished the season second in the league in scoring, averaging 20.8 points per game. He also finished 10
th in assists, dishing out 3.6 assists per contest. His 43.1% shooting from beyond the arc was the best mark in the league and was a big reason that the Blazers averaged 94.0 points per game, which ranks third in the country.

Boykin is the second straight Bulldog to be named the league’s top freshman. He finished second on the team in scoring, averaging 12.4 points per game. He was also third on the team in assists and led the team in three-point field goal percentage for any player with at least 15 attempts. Boykin was named the GSC Freshman of the Week five times during the season.

This is not only the first GSC Coach of the Year honor for Burkhamer, but the first time the award has gone to West Florida. Burkhamer has led the Argonauts to the best season in school history, claiming a program record 17 conference wins. UWF is currently ranked 15
th in the country and seems primed for the first NCAA Tournament in program history. Burkhamer is in his third season at the helm of the Argos.
