2018 MEN'S SOCCER ALL-GSC TEAMS

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gulf South Conference has announced the 2018 men’s soccer all-conference awards, as voted on by the league’s coaches. West Florida’s Sean Hoffstatter has been named the GSC Player of the Year. Spring Hill’s Cyril Giraud has been named the GSC Freshman of the Year, while West Florida’s Bill Elliott has been named GSC Coach of the Year.

Hoffstatter led the league in points, scoring 17 goals and tallying six assists. His 17 goals were also best in the conference, while his six assists in 14 games is second in the league. Hoffstatter had hat tricks in three different games this season and was twice named GSC Player of the Week. He led the Argos to the highest scoring offense in the GSC and a bye in the conference’s championship tournament. He is the fifth player from West Florida to be named GSC Player of the Year, and the first since 2012 (Richard Dixon).

Giraud was an integral part of the attack for the GSC regular season champions, ranking second on the team in goals (6) and assists (6), and third in points (18). The freshman is also a Second Team All-GSC selection at forward, one of five selections for the Badgers. Giraud is also tied for the team lead with three game-winning goals in 2018. This is the first season that Spring Hill is eligible for awards from the conference, so Giraud is the first GSC yearly award winner from SHC.

Elliott led the Argos to an 11-3-2 record this season, including a 9-1-1 mark in conference play and the second seed in the GSC Championship. UWF led the league in scoring and ranked second in goals allowed. Elliott is the most decorated men’s soccer coach in league history, bringing home the sixth GSC Coach of the Year award in his career. No other coach in league history has won the award more than three times.
