TOURNAMENT HOMEPAGE

HOW IT HAPPENED

- After two scoreless innings, Zach Shannon, the GSC Player of the Year, emphatically put the Statesmen on the board, crushing a three-run home run to left field.
- The Tigers would chip away, getting a run in the bottom of the third and the fourth on RBI singles from Joel Murphy and Tyler Lee, making it a 3-2 game.
- The 3-2 score would remain until the top of the seventh inning when a bloop shot by Clay Casey fell in the exact right spot for DSU, creating confusing amongst a trio of Tigers and allowing three Statesmen runs to score.
- In the bottom of the seventh, the Tigers left the bases loaded.
- The Tigers got one run in the bottom of the eighth, but missed an opportunity to close the gap more, as the game-tying run came to the plate with just one out in the frame.
