HOW IT HAPPENED
- Alabama Huntsville took an early lead scoring six runs in the bottom of the first inning. With bases loaded, A.J. Walden was hit by a pitch, which scored Justin Ware for the first run of the game. Nolan Ramsey followed with a two-RBI single that put the Chargers up 3-0. Jay Copeland singled to left field, scoring Walden for the fifth run. Wes Anderson singled, scoring Ramsey. Wright Hackett followed with an RBI single that drove in the Chargers’ sixth and final run of the inning.
- In the top of the second inning, Ryan Slaughter homered to right field, putting Valdosta State on the board.
- After two back-to-back scoreless innings, the Blazers rallied back in the top of the fifth, scoring four runs on five hits. Kendall Herron scored the Blazers’ second run of the game on an RBI single by Dalton Murray. Luke Suchon singled to right field, scoring Andzel for VSU’s third run of the game. B.J. White followed with a two-run bomb to left field, pulling the game within one run (6-5).
- In the bottom of the seventh, Trey Mathis singled down the right field line, loading the bases for UAH. Ramsey followed with a grand slam to put UAH up 10-5.
- Walden’s RBI single in the bottom of the eighth plated the Chargers’ 11
th and final run of the game.
NOTABLES
- The two home runs Valdosta State hit tied the second most the Blazers have hit in a single game.
- UAH’s Nolan Ramsey drove in a career-high six runs. His grand slam in the bottom of the seventh is his second home run of the season and fifth multi-RBI game.
- The 11 runs the Valdosta State pitching staff gave up are the third most they have given up all season.

Valdosta State University will play its final game of the GSC Tournament against the host and No. 1 seed Delta State University at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 8. Alabama Huntsville will play Union University at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 8, for its third game of the tournament.
