HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Tigers took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first off a two-RBI single from Marcus Morrisette.
- In the bottom of the second Tyler Lee homered to left field. A pair of two-RBI singles from Luke Phillips and Brock Montgomery put the Tigers up 7-0.
- West Alabama scored four more runs in the bottom of the fourth to take an 11-0 lead over Mississippi College. Taylor Stafford doubled, scoring Joel Murphey for UWA’s eighth run. Stafford then scored on a balk. Morisette’s two-run home run gave UWA an 11-run lead.
- In the top of the fourth, Casey Echols’ solo shot to left field was MC’s lone run of the game.
- In the bottom of the fourth, Lee hit his second home run of the game, putting the Tigers up 12-1.
NOTABLES
- West Alabama’s 12 runs are the most scored in the tournament so far and tied for fourth-most the Tigers have scored all season.
- UWA’s 14 hits were the second highest of the tournament. Eight of West Alabama’s nine starters recorded at least one hit.
- Today’s game marked the 50
th meeting between West Alabama and Mississippi College, as well as MC’s first appearance in the GSC Tournament in 21 years since it rejoined the GSC in 2015.
