Tom Ritter Selected as New GSC Coordinator of Football Officials
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Gulf South Conference is proud to announce that Tom Ritter has been selected to serve as the conference’s new Coordinator of Football Officials.
“Tom Ritter is the perfect fit for the Gulf South Conference,” said GSC Commissioner Matt Wilson. “His on-field resume speaks for itself and his great connections within the officiating community should enhance our year-round training and education programs, as well as help with recruitment of new officials and retention of our great officials. I look forward to working with him to make the GSC officiating program a model program for all of Division II.”
Ritter comes to the GSC with a wealth of experience. On the field, he was an official for the Ohio Valley Conference from 1994-2000. From 2001-2015, Ritter was a full-time official with the Southeastern Conference, working five SEC Championship Games and three BCS Bowl Games. He also served as the SEC Football Officials Association President for two years.
Since 2016, Ritter has served as an official for the SEC Centralized Replay Program.
“I am thrilled to be associated with the Gulf South Conference,” said Ritter. “The league has an extraordinary history of excellence, and I look forward to working with the coaches and administrators to ensure that the quality of officiating meets and exceeds the standards set by the football played on the field.”
