2016 Men's Golf All-GSC Team announced

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gulf South Conference announced its yearly All-GSC Men’s Golf honors for the 2015-16 season on Thursday.

Twelve student-athletes from six schools made up the All-GSC First and Second Teams. West Florida led the way with four selections, followed by Lee with three and Valdosta State with two. Delta State, North Alabama and West Georgia had one selection apiece.

The GSC Men’s Golf Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year and Coach of the Year awards were also announced.

UWF’s BLANCHET NAMED PLAYER OF THE YEAR
West Florida’s Chandler Blanchet was named the 2016 GSC Men’s Golf Player of the Year.
The sophomore from Gainesville, Fla., won the 2016 GSC Men’s Golf Championship Tournament, and his performance helped the Argos to their fourth-consecutive conference title.

Blanchet has recorded three top-three finishes this season and is ranked No. 8 in the country. This is Blanchet’s second year as a member of the All-GSC Team.

UWF’s GERAGHTY SELECTED FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR
West Florida’s Bryce Geraghty was named the 2016 GSC Men’s Golf Freshman of the Year.
The Gulf Breeze, Fla., native won the Las Vegas Desert Classic in February and placed third at the Patriot Intercollegiate back in September. Geraghty shot 221 at the GSC Championship to tie for 11^th and is ranked No. 74 in Division II.

UWF’s FELL TABBED AS GSC COACH OF THE YEAR
West Florida head coach Steve Fell is the 2016 GSC Men’s Golf Coach of the Year.
The Argonauts have not finished worse than fourth place in any tournament this season. This year, Fell lead his team to three tournament victories, a GSC championship and a spot in the NCAA regional tournament.

This marks Fell’s 13^th time to have won the award, the most by any GSC men’s golf coach. Fell has won the award three times of the last four years.
