Young Harris wins first GSC Lacrosse Invite

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Young Harris College claimed the inaugural Gulf South Conference Invitational Tournament title Sunday with a 17-7 win over Alabama Huntsville, thanks to 13 combined goals and 19 combined points from Rachel Lepine, Sarah Bialecki and Kendra Parentau.

KEY MOMENT
Co-Freshman of the Year Sarah Bialecki connected with Kendra Parenteau just 1:19 seconds into the match to give Young Harris a 1-0 lead and start what would become a combined 14-point match for the duo. Rachel Lepine, later named Most Outstanding Player of the tournament, followed with YHC’s second goal 22 seconds later to make it 2-0. It was her first of five goals in the win. After Nicole Federovitch, also named GSC Freshman of the Year, put UAH on the board with 19:01 to play in the half, YHC scored five straight goals, including two by Bialecki and two more by Lepine, assisted by Bialecki. Lepine entered halftime with a hat trick, as did Federovitch, who scored UAH’s third goal with 1:03 left to play in the first half. Young Harris blew open its 8-3 halftime lead with five goals to start the second half to take a double-digit lead, 13-3 with 25 minutes to play.
