All-GSC Men's Basketball Honors Announced

Birmingham, Ala.—The Gulf South Conference is proud to announce its All-GSC Men’s Basketball honors for the 2014-15 season.
 
Seven different GSC teams landed at least one student-athlete each on the postseason list. Christian Brothers, West Georgia, Delta State, Shorter and Union all saw one First Team member each, while Alabama Huntsville led the Second Team with two. Also seeing Second Team recognition were West Alabama, UWG and SU, all with one each.
 
DEONTA STOCKS CROWNED GSC PLAYER OF THE YEAR
West Georgia sophomore Deonta Stocks (Lithonia, Ga.) paced the conference with a league-leading 22.8 points-per-game this season. The Lithonia, Ga., native, also turned in 3.7 rebounds-per-game, 2.3 assists-per-game and 2.2 steals-per-game. Stocks shot 48-percent from the field, including 47-percent from beyond the arc and also garnered GSC Player of the Week honors (2/3/15) when he dropped a new career-high 37 points against North Alabama.
 
P.J. DAVIS TABBED FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR
Delta State forward P.J. Davis (Cleveland, Miss.) averaged 9.4 points-per-game with 7.1 rebounds-per-game and 1.9 blocks-per-game in his inaugural campaign. The hometown product collected a league-leading six GSC Freshman of the Week honors, recorded seven double-doubles and put in a career-high 18 points on 2/5/15 against West Florida.
 
LENNIE ACUFF EARNED COACH OF THE YEAR
Alabama Huntsville head coach Lennie Acuff led his squad to a 20-8 overall record, a share of the 2014-15 GSC Regular Season Title, his seventh, with conference record of 15-7 and the top overall seed for the GSC Tournament. In his 18th season at the helm of the Chargers, Acuff has now enjoyed 16 winning seasons, with what will be 15 GSC Tournament appearances, seven NCAA Division II Tournament appearances and one GSC Tournament Title.
